Pearls are mainly produced from hexagonal aragonite crystals in mollusks: mainly from oyster, clams and mussels. They are commonly found in the area of Asia, Europe and America, in both natural and farming industry. The color of pearls can be variety, mostly found in white but you can found them in the color of creamy tinge, green, yellow, brown, blue or even the black one. The black pearls are among the most expensive pearls as its rarely found. Based on these different colors, pearls can be divided into different types.
Tahitian Pearls: this pearls type is coming with dark color, black and green overtone. This type is found at Tahiti and French Polynesian islands as the product from Pinctada Magaritifera (a black-lipped oyster). The silver green, peacock green, eggplants and blue color are also found for this type, but most of them are found in metallic colors like grey and black. Normally found in a seldom round shape, but other variety shapes have also been found.
South sea pearls: with their brilliant colors and exceptional sizes made this pearls type widely known in the market. These pearls are created by Pinctada Maxima oyster which found only in deep and offshore water. They are generated in the area of Australia and the islands of Philippines.
Akoya Pearls: this pearls type is came from small oyster, the Pinctada Fucata of China and Japan seas. They generated only small pearls which suit for earring and necklace jewelry. They are generally used for the wedding accessories around the world.
Fresh water Pearls: this pearl type is grown in mussels that found in freshwater area in Japan, China, Euproe and North America. The color from these mussels can be variety, from cream, white to orange, yellow, purple and pink.
