1970 Engagement Ring Designs for the Admirers of Vintage Stuff

1970 engagement ring designs are sought after by some people for many reasons. Although an obvious reason could be their relative inexpensiveness especially for a ring of the same value, there are other reasons too. Any jewelry that is more than 20 – 30 years old could be considered vintage. However, it is more about the designs and the patterns, when you are looking for an engagement ring, rather than whether it is antique, vintage or contemporary. 1970 engagement ring designs usually involved hand craftsmanship, exquisite beauty, one of a kind rarity hard to spot now and extensive detailing. All these features made the rings 4 decades back not only beautiful but also very desirable.

Some of the 1970 engagement ring designs were also very romantic capturing the timeless charm and elegance of yesteryear. 1970s saw two distinct types of fashion when it came to engagement rings. The 3 stone diamond rings and marquise or oval diamond solitaires were very popular at this time. This slowly gave way to the cluster settings and gemstones that were used extensively in the greater part of 70s. What one would find in the engagement ring designs was a great elaboration and intricacy involved in the way the diamonds were set. The diamonds and gemstones were bigger and hence more dramatic, rather than the subtlety we see so often these days. One of the other designs that came around in the same time and became popular later was the pattern of a large diamond surrounded beautifully by smaller stones.

When you are looking for such engagement rings make sure you double check that no parts are missing. The rings have been around for so long that they would surely bear signs of wear and tear. The quality of metal should match the description and therefore you should inspect the band very closely. Only an experienced jeweller can usually comment on the quality of the stone that has been used. You must therefore consult someone before determining the price of the engagement ring. Remember that a 1970s ring has been previously owned by someone and you need to be comfortable with that fact.

The 1970 engagement rings might also bear association with the styles that existed a decade earlier. The retro modern patterns of yellow and rose golden rings with emerald cut stones in the centre and multi stone arrangement were something often seen in those rings.
